Laura has been serving Illinois physicians since 1999. She began her career at Classic Insurance Services, Ltd. doing medical professional liability insurance as an account representative providing support services and marketing strategies for individual physicians and groups.
She didn’t know doing “medical professional liability insurance” was going to give her a purpose. In 1996, Laura’s son was born with a complex congenital heart defect requiring surgery and hospitalizations for the first 3 years of his life. Her son spent a lot of time with his pediatrician, cardiologist and heart surgeon’s all who contributed to his health and survival. As a parent, you feel helpless and you leave your child’s care to the doctors to fix, treat and care for your sick child. The only thing you can do is say “Thank you”.
Laura in her own way provides the “thank you” by consulting regularly with executives from the professional liability insurance markets to help create solutions for her physicians. She advocates for her physicians while working with her close relationships at the markets; she can find the malpractice insurance coverage that is most appropriate for their needs. There is no better job satisfaction then to help a physician have peace of mind that they have coverage and protection from a reputable carrier. She knows there is no way she can ever repay the doctors for what they did for her son, but she knows it’s important they have insurance to practice medicine in Illinois and help other families.
Laura joined Mike and Connie, as their first employee of Medical Risk Services in 2007. She has maintained the original physician clients since the inception of MRS and has taken on the role of managing the Northwestern Healthcare Corporation & Northwestern Medicine Physician Partners Risk Purchasing Group.
She has helped recruit some of the talented staff members we have working for us. She has loved and enjoyed watching the growth and evolution of MRS over the last 9 years. MRS is an agency that is superb beyond any other agency Laura has worked for and she is blessed to be an employee here.
Laura currently resides in Naperville with her husband, Jeff of 27 years. Her eldest daughter was recently married in 2016 and holds a Bachelors in Nursing Degree, her other daughter also holds a Bachelors in Nursing Degree and both work together at a local hospital. Her son now 20 is studying to be an Echo Technician to perform cardiac echocardiograms for children with Congenital Heart Defects.
Laura continues to volunteer at several area congenital heart defect support groups. She also is active in her church and supports children’s ministries.
